Electric Microcar - SEM Urban Concept
The challenge
My capstone project was to design an electric microcar for Shell Eco Marathon competition, according to the university’s team requirements and restrictions, following the official rules. The main requirements of the team were easy-access to the mechanical parts, a fast way for the driver to get inside the car, and also to be lightweight. This individual academic paper was supervised by Professor Fabio Teixeira for a year.
The process
This capstone paper was developed in two parts. The first one uses the PRODIP model and contemplates both project's planning and informational project, which focus on the gathering of data and analysis through the theoretical foundation, the definition and requirements of the target audience, and the design's constraints.
The second stage covers two parts, the first is the conceptual phase, which contemplates the generation of alternatives and the selection of one that best meets the requirements. Finally, there is the preliminary project, where the final product is represented by three-dimensional digital simulations, technical detailing, and a scale model.
